The deal is finally done. The Colts and Andrew Luck have reached an agreement that will keep the Pro-Bowl quarterback in Indianapolis for the foreseeable future. The terms of the deal have yet to be released other than he is signed through the 2021 season and will make $75 million over the first three years. This looks to be what everyone thought it would be as the NFL record-breaking contract. Andrew Luck will be the highest paid player in NFL history.
Many have felt that Andrew Luck did not deserve such a large contact after having such a terrible season in which he threw 12 interceptions in just seven games and then was injured to finish the season. I couldn’t disagree more and I would be willing to bet that everyone in the Colts Nation feels the same. Luck has brought new life into the Colts organization and not even the great Peyton Manning had amazing seasons every year. Luck has continued to improve his game as a member of the Colts and many feel that we have only seen the tip of the iceberg.
With this large contract extension there will be significant pressure on Luck to perform early and play at the highest level without any missteps. If there is one player in the NFL who I feel can handle the pressure it’s Andrew and I feel that after the tongue lashing he has taken this offseason from the national media about his ability he is ready to shine once again.
