In a week leading up to the biggest game of the season so far we all wanted to hear positive news. We all wanted to hear the back and forth between New England and Indy sports radio personalities and all that fun junk. We in the midst of all that happening sad and terrible news came out this afternoon.
Josh McNary has been charged with one count of rape, criminal confinement and battery resulting in bodily injury. According to Fox59 in Indianapolis this happened in early December. The two met and went to McNary’s apartment where he raped her. She was able to get away from him and took his cell phone. The police received the report and went to McNary’s apartment to investigate. When they arrived McNary was said to be forthcoming and even had some of the woman’s clothing laid out for the police.
The warrant has been signed but not served. McNary will more than likely turn himself in this evening to the police.
On a personal note I would like to know why it took so long for IMPD and the Marion County court system to file charges and get the warrant. I work in law enforcement and spoke with a co-worker who is a former police detective about this. There are times where these investigations can take longer because the case needs to be solid and the detectives will want to make sure all their T’s care crossed and I’s are dotted. I understand that some things take time but when it seems that the offender made, what could be interpreted as, incriminating statements as highlighted in the Fox59 new report. This sickens me and I hope that it doesn’t come out that the IMPD detectives and the courts pushed this as far as they could because he is a Colts football player or because the police and the courts wanted to ensure they had the strong case for the victim.
My condolences to the victim and her family. I hope she will find closure once this horrific saga is complete.
